Summer Club 2022

We had a busy and fun Holiday Club over the Summer – here are a few highlights!

Welcome (Back!) to TASC for 22/23!

We’re back with Breakfast Club and After School Club on Wednesday 17th August and we look forward to seeing lots of familiar faces, some from Holiday Club but also some who will no doubt have grown and changed in the weeks since we saw them last! And we can’t wait to welcome our new children to join us.

Below are some notes for our new families but there are also important reminders or new info so please read on, even if you’re an old hand…

And don’t forget you can always get in touch with any questions or if anything is unclear.
TASC is NOT part of Towerbank School!
There is often confusion about how much we are connected to school, even from those who have been with us a while. Though we are based in the school we are not affiliated to, or run by Towerbank Primary School, we are an independent, parent-run charity/small business given a Let from Edinburgh Council to use the school premises to provide wrap-around care for the Towerbank Primary School community. As such, we of course try to work closely with the school where we can but our systems are completely separate.

So, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can you inform us directly when your child will be absent from a session and not the school. Sending a text to 07796 597976 is the best way for the message to get through. I will need to call you if your child is not there for us to pick up so we really appreciate your co-operation, especially as we will be so busy this year.

As we work with Towerbank Primary children, occasionally it is helpful for us to speak to school staff to help us provide the best care for our children. We will ask you for permission before we speak to the school about your child.
Medication
If your child requires medication to be held during a session, we need to hold our own, as well as the school (we cannot access the school’s medication store). We need this medication to be brought in/handed over before we can accept your child for their first session. Please contact us to arrange a time if you haven’t already done this.

If we already hold your child’s medication and nothing has changed for them, you do not need to do anything. You will be informed during the month before the medication is due to expire so that you can bring in a replacement.

With any medical, additional support or dietary need we like as much information as you can give us, so that we can ensure that your child’s needs are being met, so please email, call or drop in to have a chat.
Drop off/Pick up
The new decking by the side of our entrance will be all finished by the time term starts, so for drop off please come round the school on the right hand side (looking at the sea!) between school and nursery and you will come to some big glass windows/doors and the TASC doorbell. If no-one sees you please ring the bell for our attention. If you can’t find us feel free to ring our club phone on 07796 597976.
For pick up, if the weather is decent we will probably be outside in the playground, if not, follow the same instructions to find our entrance.
Flexibility of sessions
As you will be aware, we are very busy with most sessions over-subscribed for this year, and long waiting lists in place. Unfortunately this means that the flexibility we have previously had to add children in for one-offs or make swaps at the last minute will not be possible going forward except in very exceptional circumstances. Please be aware if you give notice and take your child out of a regular session, you will not automatically be able to resume it, but will go to the end of the waiting list.
We are of course glad to be a popular setting but realise that it comes with new challenges!
Covid
As you will be aware, Covid is still with us but Scottish Government advise that the risks are much reduced. We ask that if your child is suffering from respiratory or infectious symptoms, please keep them off TASC until their symptoms have ceased. We appreciate your support in this as we try to keep everyone safe. We have a small staff team so when we have absences through sickness this affects the care we can offer and we may have to close or reduce sessions, if cover staff are unavailable.
