As we hurtle towards the end of the 2025/26 school year, I can’t believe we are almost at the Summer!
This year has seen some changes!
Including the introduction of the new “youth den” in the TU (temporary classroom near the gym hall), where the oldest children have been able to chill out, play some x-box together, as well as other activities of their choice – games, baking, table tennis and football, drawing, chatting, dancing and singing along to their favourite music. Playing their version of “The Traitors” has been very popular this year.

The new security improvements – using one simple and secure entrance, the name tag system and regular use of hi-vis outdoors have been keeping the children safer than ever.
We have had the Tipi much more regularly and taken the children out and about to the park or the Powerleague pitches.
We have enjoyed Yoga with Louise on Tuesdays and Fridays and now Thursdays – a great chance to chill out, stretch and relax.

We’ve had loads of exciting crafts and activities, from puffy paints to face paints, origami to jewellry making.

We’ve said goodbye to some of our staff team but welcomed others – we have built up the team and each session we display their photos and names so everyone can get to know them. They have worked hard to keep improving the setting, providing more different play types and activities to ensure everyone has a fun time. I am proud that we are such a diverse team and that they are paid the Real Living Wage, with opportunities to keep learning and training in the skills needed to give your children excellent care.
We’ve recently said goodbye to our P7’s – the biggest group to make it to the end since I have been manager – as always we took the group for a treat on the prom.
When I think of our P1’s this year, we have seen such progress in their confidence and development. They now seem ready to welcome in the next generation of new P1’s during the Summer and in August and be the “older ones” showing the little ones what to do.
We’re looking forward to an exciting Summer Club with some more changes to come!
We are focusing on giving the children lots of variety and getting out and about more locally. We have themed weeks of activities – from animals to movies, time travel to sports. We are introducing new P1 special days with activities particularly suitable for little ones (but still with fun stuff for all ages!). We’ve got a great new partnership with Portobello bookshop, an exciting Fringe Festival opportunity, allotment visits and lots fun trips including a new outing to the National Owl Centre.

Whatever the weather we are looking forward to a great time!
